A Canadian professional ice hockey goalie who plays for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League, Carey Charles Price was born on August 16, 1987, in Montreal, Quebec (NHL). Following his second season with the Tri-City Americans, Price was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fifth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Price began his junior career with the Tri-City Americans in 2003 and played his first two seasons with the Americans. Following two more seasons with the Americans, during which he was awarded the Del Wilson Trophy as the best goalie in the Western Hockey League and the CHL Goaltender of the Year, he entered his last season of major junior hockey in 200With the Canadiens’ AHL farm club, the Hamilton Bulldogs, Price was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ run to the Calder Cup finals, earning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the tournament’s MVP. Price joined the Bulldogs just as the Calder Cup playoffs were getting underway. Price was named to the Montreal Canadiens’ roster for the 2007-2008 NHL season, where he served as the team’s backup goalie until taking over as the team’s starting goaltender later in the season. Price has represented Canada at several junior international competitions, earning silver medals at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2004 and the IIHF World U18 Championship in 200Price has also represented Canada at the senior international level. In 2007, he represented Sweden in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where he was awarded a gold medal. Price was selected to the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team in 2014, and he went on to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Sochi that year.
